Forza Horizon 6 has barely had time to settle, and now the game is already rolling out its first major update. Series 2: Horizon Decades lands on June 18, and if you are trying to stay ahead of the curve, it is worth keeping an eye on the new Festival Playlist rewards, the gameplay tweaks, and a few balance changes that will hit the economy pretty hard. If you have been grinding for cash, it may also be the right time to look at FH6 Credits before the new cycle starts to shape how everyone plays over the next few weeks.
When Series 2 goes live
The update has been announced, but it will not actually unlock until the morning of June 18, Pacific Time. It will run through July 16, which lines up with the usual monthly rhythm of Festival Playlist. That matters more than it sounds like. FH6 is clearly built around weekly refreshes, so once a new series begins, the whole game starts nudging players toward fresh challenges, new prizes, and a different pace of play. If you miss the start, you are not locked out forever, but you will feel the gap pretty quickly.
The Trial is back
One of the biggest talking points is The Trial, which is returning to the series after a long absence. It is still the same basic idea: you jump in with five other real players and go up against six Drivatars on Unbeatable difficulty. That alone makes it worth paying attention to, because The Trial has always been one of the fastest ways to build up Festival Playlist points without having to grind the same event over and over. People who like teamwork will probably jump in right away, and even players who usually go solo may want to give it a shot since the reward path in Series 2 leans so heavily on Playlist progress.
Fresh ways to earn points
Series 2 does not just bring back old favourites. It also adds a new twist to Time Attack. Hokubu Time Attack Circuit will now work as a shared social zone during the series, so it is less about pure speed for a moment and more about creating a place where players can show off cars, hang around, and mess about with whatever they have built. That said, the racing side is still there. If you want credits or leaderboard times, you will still need to push clean laps and actually learn the circuit. The social layer is a nice extra, but it is not replacing the core mode. It just gives the whole thing a bit more life.
The new cars worth chasing
The car rewards are probably what most people will care about first. Series 2 adds up to 10 new unlockable cars through Festival Playlist, and the first one on the list is the 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau. You can grab it by earning 80 Playlist points across the month, which is a fair target if you keep up with the weekly events. The 1989 Volkswagen Rallye Golf comes next, and that one is tied to the summer week, so timing matters if you want it. It is also notable because, aside from DLC, it is the first truly new model in FH history to show up here. After that, the 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10 stands out because it is basically a Viper-powered pickup, which is exactly the kind of weird stuff Forza does well. The rest of the Playlist lineup includes the 2018 Lotus Exige Cup 430, 1988 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV, 1998 TVR Cerbera Speed 12, 1993 Schuppan 962CR, 2003 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R, and 2017 Saleen S7 LM.
More cars, badges, and balance changes
Car Pass owners are getting four more cars on top of that. If you already own the pass, the 2023 Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD goes straight into your garage. The other additions are the 1974 Mazda #123 Mad Mike 808 Wagon "FURSTY", the 1998 Nissan Skyline GT-R 40th Anniversary, and the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla. There are also three new badges tied to Playlist activity, including one for completing each type of event, one for simply playing during the Horizon Decades Playlist period, and another for showing up to an Evolving World Car Meet while driving the 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10. On top of all that, the update is making some pretty serious backend changes. Exploits tied to The Eliminator were dealt with, including credit abuse that led to capped balances for offenders. Drag racing tires were also toned down, so the old ultra-grippy, low-PI setup will not hit the same way anymore. Leaderboard times built on that setup are being wiped, which will annoy some players, but it does keep the field a lot fairer.
Final Thoughts
Series 2 feels like the kind of update that changes a lot without shouting too loudly about it. You get the return of The Trial, a more playful take on Time Attack, a strong batch of reward cars, and a few fixes that should make the game feel less exploitable and more balanced. If you are planning your next few weeks around the Playlist, it makes sense to stay organised early and maybe even buy FH6 Credits before the new events start pulling everyone in different directions. Once June 18 arrives, FH6 is going to feel a bit busier, a bit tougher, and a lot more worth logging in for.
